Literature Text

A brown monkey crossed my path today
Whose teeth were yellowed from decay.
It wore an old, ragged toupee
And clutched a dark, wilting bouquet.

It looked about to go insane
Though this primate seemed quite inane
Holding a bag full of cocaine
My wonder, I could not contain.

It wore sunglasses of dark hue
So I could not tell if it knew
It stood in a large pile of poo
Critically close to a gas flue

I foresaw his imminent doom
For I knew the stove would go boom
Out his stomach his guts would bloom
Sending him to an early tomb.

Oh poor monkey, your days were brief.
Your belov’d now is full of grief
To her your death’s far from belief
To her you’re still her monkey chief.
Not that exploding monkeys is really funny, or childlike, but I dunno, this poem just sorta came out...

again, I'm sitting next to you so this is silly, but this is very cool. reminds me of "The Jabberwocky" in its solemn frivolity. Could use a little cutting down to help the flow, but that;s if you care that much. very funny and imaginitive.
